I obtained my BSN & PHN at Cal Poly Humboldt, Arcata CA. I worked as a home health nurse and a jail nurse before finding a great position as an oncology and research nurse at the San Francisco Veterans Medical Center. Later I moved to France for 12 years where I taught in several large Universities and obtained a Masters in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (https://www.usnews.com/education/best-global-universities/public-environmental-occupational-health).
In 2013 I returned to The Twin Cities to help with my mother who had advancing dementia. My wife, 3 daughters and I live in the Glenlake area since 2013. Mom moved in with us around 2016. Caring for her as a family was a challenging but incredibly rewarding and healing experience.
For the last 10+ yrs I have worked at HCMC in ambulatory clinics, Hospice and Care Coordination.
